Often times in life, we wonder whether there is luck or whether it is a matter of the work we do and the dedication we put in. However if you have seen the waves, is it the ebb which causes the wave or the wave which causes the ebb? It never is clear what causes what. Sometimes people are bombarded with a volley of incidents which beyond a shadow indicates a bad phase in their lives. How does one handle the ups and downs of the emotions?
Taking perspective into consideration, every happening is always a trigger for something else to happen. When we lose the perspective of the happening, we get to experience a sense of loss of control in our lives. By perspective, I mean the angle from which there is a lesson to proceed for the future. History invariably tends to repeat itself periodically. But sometimes, amidst the storms of emotions, it is very difficult to decipher the message from an event or a happening.
As we all know, most of the earth is still a mystery and what we have discovered here is hardly a miniscule compared to the larger perspective of the earth in its entirety. Every day, there is something or the other which is being discovered about the universe which was unknown till that moment. But taking into the consideration of what we know, we always look for new things from what we know. For instance, if we know that the hair is black in color, we can notice anything and everything which is black or we can notice anything which resembles hair. However, if you don’t know the color “adinayle”, is it really possible to find it?
Now how do we seek to find out something we don’t know? A larger perspective and guidance is required to see through the shortcomings of any event. Let’s say that you come to a four road junction, and there is no signal to regulate it, there is no way you will know what is coming down the corner of the road, when to slow down and when to speed up. However, there is a thinking which has to go behind this before the signal is available to use.
Along the way, it does make sense to pull in this perspective in life which helps you to naturally slow down or speed up in our lives. Failures are nothing but signals toward something. When we know what to interpret of it, it is easy to second guess that we are all lucky as we all have some indicators to the expected result.
Very often a mentor provides this perspective on how we put things in life so that we can move on with ease with respect to the proverbial signal in our life. Several cross roads in life are unmanned and there are no signals to follow in terms of safety. It is sometimes very hard to put logic into all the randomness which life unrolls. A mentor is someone who helps you to channelize this direction of effort and he gives you the map to reach where you want to. Along the way, what you might realize is that you have different landmarks which you remember when you think of the process. This might be very different to what the mentorship provides and is called experience.
It’s necessary to understand that when we push a door when it is written pull, it might take a very long time to open the door. Sometimes you might be breaking the door and not opening it. In terms of life setbacks are like the door signs. We might need some help to learn to push or pull at the handles of the doors in lives which are the setbacks. However, if the push or pull sign on a door is written on the other side, it would be very difficult to find it out unless you discover by chance. Most of the times in our lives, the googly is, the door signs of our setbacks being pasted on the other side. A mentor can read it and guide us so that we can capitalize on the clues.
Mostly, we never look for this in our lives and all of us want and crave for independence and individuality in our lives. When we look around, it is easy to accept that we did have our set of luck in our lives. But most of the time it is the return on luck which is missing! We refuse to accept these offerings or seek for these offerings from someone who is at least 5-10yrs ahead of us in our desired field in life.
Hard work is a necessity in our lives. But most often than not, we do not have the return on luck for the work is because we refuse to choose that guide in our lives. Secondly, we do not volunteer to become the guides for others who are 5-10yrs behind in our endeavor we are successful at. This disconnect towards ourselves is why we feel the results don’t match our work and we say we are unlucky. Nevertheless, I would say that we do not know what return on luck means and unless we know that, we shall remain unlucky.
